Our Philosophy
Appointments based on Individual Needs:
We can see you as often as needed. For some individuals, this may mean multiple times per week, for others, this may mean a monthly appointment, and others, every few months.
Scientific, Objective Treatment:
Treatment is guided by an objective, measurable and time limited treatment plan. Nearly all treatment plans include practical homework that produces measurable results. Homework commonly includes exercise, dietary changes, nutritional supplements, behavioral experiments, and efforts to improve interpersonal relationships.
Timely Manner:
We deliver the results of our psychological evaluations to you in 10-days or less.
Consultation and Collaboration:
We work together with you, your family, and other providers to make sure that you are receiving the best support possible to meet your goals or address your current issues. Independent Medical Examinations
More than 20 Years of Experience
Expert Advantage® provides independent Medical Examinations (IME) throughout the USA and Canada. We assist with claims of emotional harm, neuropsychological injury and chronic pain. We assist in the areas of disability, personal injury, Worker’s Compensation, family law, civil commitment, and criminal law.
Objective Standards Applied to Subjective Claims
Our examinations consist of:
- Consultation with referring source to develop clear reasons for referral and questions that the IME must address.
- Meticulous analysis of evidence provided by medical, mental health, legal, and personnel records in light of published diagnostic and treatment guidelines.
- Interview of the subject to provide a historical context for the current signs and symptoms.
- Review of the subject’s Activities of Daily Living to assist in establishing the subject’s level of clinical distress and functional impairment.
- Administration of objective, well-validated psychological tests pertinent to the referral questions.
- Thorough assessment of effort and symptom manipulation using standardized tests.
- Interviews with collateral informants to provide additional perspectives on the subject’s daily functioning and collateral source of validity.
- Delivery of the final report via face-to-face conference, teleconference, electronic delivery and paper delivery.
All Expert Advantage® doctors:
- Provide objective scientific evidence, not merely opinion.
- Completed our specialized forensic training course in the psychological and psychiatric assessment of disability claimants.
- Possess a minimum of five years experience performing disability examinations.
- Maintain a clean ethical history which we independently verify.
Medical Expert Testimony
Impartial, Objective Testimony
Expert Advantage® provides Medical Expert Testimony throughout the USA and Canada based on the results of Medical Evidence Analysis or Independent Medical Examinations.
Our Doctors’ Qualifications
All doctors in the Expert Advantage® network:
- Specialize in objective scientific evidence.
- Complete the forensic training course, Psychological and Psychiatric Assessment of Individuals for Disability Insurers, and must have achieved a score of 85% or higher on the course examination.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience performing disability examinations.
- Receive excellent ratings on the Expert Advantage® internal peer review process.
- Have a verified clean ethical history.
Medical Evidence Analysis
The Expert Advantage® Medical Evidence Analysis assists legal, insurance, and Worker’s Compensation professionals who handle claims involving emotional harm. Our report provides a comprehensive analysis of medical evidence for claims of emotional harm, neuropsychological injury, or chronic pain.
Objective Standards Applied to Subjective Claims
Expert Advantage® case analysis reports go beyond mere professional opinion and include extensive footnoted references to the scientific literature. We can support our analysis with an independent medical exam nationwide in the USA and Canada or with courtroom testimony.
Considered in the Analysis
- Pre-existing conditions that must be excluded for a valid diagnosis
- Errors in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, planning, and treatment delivery
- Alternative causation theories never considered by most IME doctors
- Published treatment guidelines
- Computerized analysis of medications to identify adverse events and interaction
Workers Compensation Evaluations
How We’re Exceptional
All reports are written by experienced, specialty-trained doctors who are experts in forensic psychology, neuropsychology, or psychiatry. Reports are independently reviewed by a certified peer (board-certified psychiatrist or another neuropsychologist). The independent reviewer ensures that all referral questions have been clearly answered and that each answer is supported by detailed and objective medical evidence, not merely professional opinion or clinical experience.
Our Doctors’ Qualifications
- Specialize in objective scientific evidence.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience performing disability examinations.
- Maintain a clean ethical history.
Why Not Just Call a Doctor Myself?
Each doctor is an independent expert who sets his or her own rates. Typically, the total charge for a routine IME is approximately $2800. A neuropsychological evaluation costs approximately $4000.
Evaluations usually occur within two weeks of the date of referral with a final report delivered in less than ten days after the conclusion of the evaluation.
